Preparing to Film

CHOOSE ONE OR MORE OF THESE TO SEE WHAT WORKS

  • Artificially lighting an interior scene
  • Using natural light → what ‘look’ are you trying to achieve
  • Camera movement (e.g. tracking a character)
  • Actors performances / rehearsals
  • Recording audio in an exterior location
  • Props and settings to be used as metaphors → how will you show them / light them? e.g. mirrors, landscapes, materials such as metals → quiet locations/busy locations
  • Any other stylistic choices (e.g. time lapse, POV shots, use of colours, etc..)

The more testing you do, the better your film will be, don't leave it until its too late!

MAJOR THINGS TO FOCUS ON:
  • Does your film make sense?!
  • Is it going to be the correct length? (4min - 5min)
  • Are there any continuity errors?
  • Is your audio quality good enough (to get a high grade)?
  • Is your sound design interesting enough (to get a high grade)?
  • Are your clips exactly the right length (i.e. not needlessly long)
Final considerations:
  • Colour grading
  • Implementation of your titles
  • Credits
