USING YOUR PHONE TO FILM
Do:
- Trust your actors and let them relax into the scene (basic coverage of shot/reverse shot/ lots of takes)
- Make sure you're as close to your subjects as possible if recording audio (or find a different way of using audio such as using a separate phone to record the audio)
- Phones don't have great dynamic range, keep lighting low contrast (less harsh shadows/hotspots)
- Shoot in landscape
- Use a tripod, even a makeshift one is better than no tripod
- Back up your footage on Google Drive or OneDrive
Don't:
- Use handheld.
- Don't forget to charge your phone
- Shoot in Portrait or 4K
- Use fancy filters/effects - you will use Premiere to do that
